DirecTV and DISH Network have their own ways of providing guides of their programming options to their respective customers. Information for each is provided below.
DirecTV has several ways to let their customers know what is available. It has an on-screen program guide which can be easily accessed by pressing "Guide" on the remote. This on-screen list can be personalized to include whatever channels the customer wants-specific channels that are favorites, only the channels that are included in the purchased package, or whatever the customer decides. It provides information for shows on at that moment as well as shows coming on in upcoming hours.
Additionally, DirecTV offers a more comprehensive list of upcoming shows on the DirecTV website ( http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/ProgramGuide ) where the current and upcoming weekly schedules for all available for perusal. For additional information about television specials specific to DirecTV customers, a monthly newsletter can be ordered at no charge. This publication gives the inside track to late-breaking news regarding DirecTV. It contains up-to-date announcements, special offers, and tips on customer care. Subscribers can read about upcoming special events, premium offerings, pay per view events and special sports offers.
DISH Network has more comprehensive programming guides, but quite often they mean you have to pay for a subscription, for example the DISH Entertainment Magazine. The monthly publication contains a complete listing of all programs offered by the channels that the DISH Network carries. It also contains daily highlights, sports schedules, upcoming movie events, and feature articles on favorite Hollywood icons, including many behind-the-scenes specials. The fee for this magazine is $39.99 for one year.
Another alternative is DISH Flicks. This periodical is a monthly offering specializing in movies. It provides a complete movie listing, plus articles on the actors and directors and lots of behind-the-scenes info. There is a Critic's Choice section which gives reviews on upcoming movie events, and an A to Z index with detailed descriptions, and Primetime Movie highlights. With DISH Flicks, subscribers will never miss a premier. The cost for this feature is only $19.99 for one year. But for those unwilling to pay the subscription prices that allow DISH Network to provide all the detailed scoops found in these two magazines, their website offers a detailed list of what's showing as well.
