Share

Satellite TV News: Giant Satellite TV provider - Dish Network, announced the iPad version of the Dish Remote Access app, which it declared as "the first and only app from a TV service provider specifically designed for the iPad that permits subscribers to control their televisions and manage their programming remotely."

The company has also big plans this coming fall. The satellite TV provider is set to let let subscribers experience the new ViP 922 DVR or a SlingBox watch live TV and DVR recordings from iPads, iPhones, BlackBerrys and Android-based devices for no additional charge.

The Apps as expected will require Sling-Enabled ViP 922 or SlingBox to Watch Live TV, DVR Recordings.

The video-streaming feature, expected to first appear in September, will be an added bonus to the very revolutionary and useful free Dish Remote Access app, which allows DVR management and customization features for almost all of the satellite providers' DVR receivers. Dish Network expects providing a BlackBerry edition in September and one for Google's Android operating system in October.

Note for existing customers and those thinking of signing up with Dish Network, in order to enjoy live TV or recorded shows, Dish customers must have either the ViP 922 DVR or a SlingBox. Dish started distributing the "SlingLoaded" ViP 922 DVR in April to dealers and key target areas, just barely 12 months after it previously pegged to launch the product.

The iPad-optimized Dish Remote Access app includes a remote-control feature to permit subscribers change channels, browse the program guide, and access extra navigation functions on TVs connected to compatible receivers.
