Echo Star has launched DishHD last Friday a premier pay-satellite TV service in Taiwan. DishHD will be offering Taiwan the most high-definition channels via a satellite antenna and a DVR.

“We’re pleased to deliver a world-class lineup of HD programming in Taiwan, a country known for its wide adoption of HD television sets,” says EchoStar President Steve Schaver.

“We plan to expand to more than 50 total HD channels by year end,” Schaver added.

DishHD launched the service with two satellite TV offers: the Premier package and the Standard package. The Premier holds more than twice the number of high-definition channels than any other service currently in Taiwan, 30 more high-quality channels in an all-digital format. The DishHD DVR will also allow the recording of two different programs at the same time.

The satellite TV deals will start at 1000NT per month ($32 USD) and will be available on retail stores throughout Taiwan.
