On June 11, 2010, Direct TV will launch ESPN 3D along with other dedicated 3D channels in their latest 3D lineup.  

Millions of Direct TV HD customers will have access to ESPN’s complete 3D programs with more than 85 live sports coverage, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup Matches.  Other events like X Games 16, 2010 College Football ACC Championship, 2011 BCS National Championship game, college basketball and NBA games in 2011 will also be produced in 3D.

Direct TV will be offering the 24/7 3D pay-per-view channel, the 24/7 3D Direct TV on Demand channel and the N3D, a product line powered by Panasonic.  With N3D, customers can expect 3D sports programs from big broadcasting companies like AEG/AEG Digital Media, CBS, Fox Sports/FSN, Golden Boy Promotions, HDNet, MTV, NBC Universal and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

Direct TV offers its HD customers software upgrade with no extra cost thereby allowing them to receive ESPN 3D immediately in June.  These subscribers need to have their special 3D glasses on to watch 3D shows of ESPN on Direct TV. 

David Preschlack of Disney & ESPN Networks Group says that ESPN and Direct TV’s partnership is the first step towards giving sports fans new, exciting and dynamic contents with the 3D lineups as well as a chance for its affiliates to provide one of a kind product line to their customers.

Eric Shanks, EVP of Direct TV Entertainment, also says that subscribers will be like having their very own virtual seats with ESPN 3D.  Direct TV is excited to be the first and only provider to launch ESPN 3D.  They are also looking forward in working with other 3D partners this year.
