Direct TV Service Glitch fixed

Last June 8 had been a terrible day to Direct TV and many of its subscribers, particularly those with HD DVRs that have been affected by a system glitch.

According to Direct TV, they received more inbound calls than what they usually get involving hardware problems.  Many of these calls were from subscribers who had rebooted their drives the night before and were not able to turn it back on.  Because of this, many were not able to enjoy their satellite TV packages that day.

Direct TV issued an apologetic e-mail in the afternoon saying that the problem had been fixed.  However this did not cause its customers to calm down.  The social media site Twitter was flooded with complaints from customers who have been inconvenienced by this incident.

As a countermeasure, Direct TV’s Twitter account offered a first aid remedy to those affected by glitch.  The customers were advised to unplug their units from the wall, wait for 15 seconds then replug if their HD DVRs cannot be turned on.  They are to repeat this sequence once to restore the service.

It was an untimely event for Direct which had previously launched a nationwide ad campaign for its latest Whole-Home DVR service.  The service is suppose to enable its customers to record and watch programs in up to 15 rooms with only one HD DVR.  See more of this service on this link.
