June 16, 2010—Direct TV proudly announced its latest Whole-Home DVR Service that allows customers to watch and record TV shows in up to 15 televisions with a single DVR.

The Whole-Home DVR service of Direct TV was made available to its subscribers nationwide early this June.  Coincidentally, the most popular video service provider had launched a national print, broadcast and online advertisement to herald the release of this breakthrough in satellite TV technology.

With the Whole-Home DVR, Direct TV subscribers will have more control over their televisions.  It allows access to Direct TV’s DVR technology on non-DVR HD receivers.  It totally eliminates the need for a multiple HD DVR since the subscribers can record and watch shows on separate TVs in up to 15 rooms.

Romulo Pontual, CTO of Direct TV says that they have created an integrated TV viewing service that is attuned to their clients’ viewing habits and lifestyles.  The Whole-Home DVR enables customers to watch the shows they want, anywhere in the house with just a single HD DVR.

Its features include:

  • Access to a single combined playlist of all of the recorded programs on any connected television at home.
  • DVR controls in every room which include the record, delete, pause and rewind functions.
  • Stop a recorded show in one room while watching in a different room.
  • Manage DVR playlist from any of the connected rooms.
  • Set a separate parental control on each TV.
  • Watch recorded shows in HD in any of the connected rooms.

Direct TV’s Whole-Home DVR service is priced at $3 every month.  Verizon FiOS on the other hand, offers a similar service (Home Media DVR) for a monthly fee of $19.95.
