Dish Network has announced that Rural Free Delivery TV, or RFD-TV, will be available in high-definition nationwide.
Rural Free Delivery TV will be available on DISH Network Channel number 231 at no extra cost to the subscribers of America's Top 200 programming package or above.
It’s an effort to solidify its lead in the high-def programming race. Dish Network currently has a line-up with more than 200 high-definition channels, has the most international channels, and as of Dec. 31, 2010, provides for more than 14.1 million subscribers with the high quality programming and technology at the best value with their HD Free for Life program.
It can also be seen as a real effort to give viewers in the United States and around the world what America is close up.
“The beauty of rural America in high-definition is stunning,” said Patrick Gottsch, the founder and president of Rural Media Group, Inc. “From day one, DISH Network has been a great partner in our efforts to expand programming to serve the needs and interests of rural America. We, along with the over 80 independent programmers currently on RFD-TV and RFD-TV HD, appreciate the continued strong support from everyone at DISH Network.”
RFD-TV HD will boost the value of Dish Network’s HD Free for Life program.
Says Dave Shull, senior vice president of Programming for DISH Network, “What’s more, DISH Network is the only TV company that gives our customers free HD programming for life, meaning existing RFD-TV viewers won’t have to pay a penny more to get their rural news, agricultural features, horse training and informational programming in crystal-clear high definition.”
RFD-TV, or Rural Free Delivery TV, cable television channel devoted to rural issues, concerns, and interests in the United States. It is marketed as “Rural America's Most Important Network” with much of its programming concerned with the culture of farming, agriculture, as well as life on the Great Plains of North America, equine, music and entertainment associated with that area.

According to NASDAQ, going into 2011 the United States economy will still be in shambles. Some forecast goes farther by saying that the unemployment rate will reach as high as ever, around 10% by the fourth fiscal quarter.
Americans, depressed by the bleak situation, may decide to cut back unnecessary expense and spend more time at home, perhaps watching television.
Only that, watching television will cost them more than ever, too.
